TŌTARA Kua hinga te tōtara o te wao nui a Tāne.The Tōtara in the forest of Tāne has fallen. The Tōtara is a large tree that lives for hundreds of years and when one falls in the forest it is a great tragedy.  This whakataukī is often referred to when a person of great mana passes away.
